Borderline Personality - A View From Inside

"I am borderline" is a short film staring Danielle Keaton about borderline personality disorder from the inside. This short film (4:35 minutes) was written and directed Betsy Usher in Los Angles. The film offers a realistic portrayal of the internal conflict of a person with borderline personality disorder or traits traits of worldwide slots. The film opens with the voice over;

"It feels like you aren't living at all, or you're possibly too alive. You're a person that feels the highest of highs and the lowest of low. You're usually triggered by small things, the way a person looks to watch..."

The film is part of a campaign created By Betsy Usher (pictured at the bottom) to help reduce misconceptions and the stigma of BPD. Another part if this campaign asks individuals who identify with the BPD diagnosis to post pictures of themselves online showing all of the other talents, labels, and thoughts about who they are (e.g. "I am a teacher").

Usher has her doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD). She studied Borderline Personality Disorder at California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant University. She also attended California State University, Northridge and CSPP/Alliant International University at Alliant University.

The film finished first place in the month of June 2016, winning the monthly "Art with Impact" given by artwithimpact.org, a non-profit organization encouraging the production of short films based on mental health issues. The organization is sponsored under the California Mental Health Services Act, and by The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) , Pacific Blue Cross Community Connection Health Foundation, and others.

    1. I know you posted almost a year ago, however, I wanted to let you know that the great thing about your post is your post....meaning, you're on this site trying to understand your daughter and to me, that's extremely important because most people don't take the time to do that. I am BPD and everyday is a battlefield.

  2. Thank you for expressing what has always been so difficult to put into words. I've lost everyone I ever loved suffering with these symptoms my entire life. And thankfully after 60 years of therapy and the brilliant talents of younger minds I am FINALLY receiving the proper treatment. I hope more people will see this and understand while it may be difficult to love someone with BPD,it is even far more difficult for us to live with ourselves. Just try to remember we love you and want you to be a part of our lives. We may not always act that way...that's when we need you the most.

  3. I love this video. It really provides a little bit of insight into how we feel because people, regardless if they say they want to understand, really don't understand. Instead, they nitpick and blame us for being who we are. I know it's an old video but I'm glad it's on here. I'm in and out of sleep right now and played this video for comfort within and outside my self (if that makes sense). Gn and Gm all.

  4. It took so long, until recently, to figure this out and this is me. I am 63. All the times I visited with psychiatrists I believe they did not want to treat me for this and wanted to get rid of me. I have a strong husband who loves me. It gets better with age a little bit. I find myself pushing those I care for away because I really do not want to hurt them.
